Shatta Wale was crowned the Best Dancehall Artiste last night in South Africa at the maiden edition of the Ghana Music Awards South Africa.
Shatta Wale who was absent at the awards night has rejected the award.
According to Shatta Wale, how could he win Best Dancehall Artiste over Stonebwoy and then lose the overall Best Artiste of the Year award to same Stonebwoy.
“He even lost his genre to me. How does he win the overall best? The organisers have to apologise to me for selling their brand with my name” – Shatta Wale said.
Shatta Wale added that he did not even have enough Dancehall songs to deserve the award and losing the Highlife category to win Best Dancehall act casts doubts of the legitimacy of the scheme.
Speaking to [email protected] Chief Satirist Baffour Gyawu, the organisers admitted to have fairly shared the awards among all musicians to bring an end to the era of one musician sweeping all awards.
“This is why we awarded Wendy Shay, Strongman, Quata Budukrusu, Buruku or so, we were trying to award everyone”, the organisers jointly told Baffour Gyawu loudly.
