Frederick Amanor, the Policeman who brutalised a woman at the Midland Savings and Loans has been freed by an Accra Circuit Court.
The court, presided over by His Lordship Justice Baffour Gyawu said the Policeman failed all Psychiatric assessments and as such cannot be trialed in court.
In a 2-page judgment read by Justice Baffour Gyawu, several Psychiatric evaluations carried proved that Frederick is mentally ill. “Health records of the Police officer indicate that he is not sound and has been hosted in several rehabs across the country prior to becoming a police officer” the judge read.
The judgement went on to direct the officer to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital for medical attention.
The family of the police officer admitted that Frederick is mentally challenged and added that “no one is his right sense would beat a woman carrying a baby”.
The case has however been dismissed and hearing adjourned.
