The Ghana Football Association and the Zylofon Group have a released a joint press statement warning other media houses to refrain from broadcasting the Ghana Premier League, now Zylofon Cash Premier League.
The statement said that radio stations are not allowed to give commentaries, discuss the matches while TV stations are restricted from airing the games or having panel discussions. Offenders face up to 6-month jail term or $12m in fines.
It added that, Zylofon Group’s Zylofon TV is even not allowed to broadcast the games as all rights are exclusively to the Zylofon Cash website.
Lovers of local league, which makes just 0.1% of soccer lovers are required to have email addresses to sign up on the Zylofon Cash website to enjoy the games.
All viewers are paid to watch the games just as the name of the platform suggests, Zylofon Cash.
The Ghana Premiere League is now officially sponsored by Zylofon Cash in a $10 million deal. The product has paid users a whopping $56 million since its launch few months ago. It has been described by IT experts as a threat to Youtube.
