Nigerian Man Cries In Court As Judge Sentences Him To Death After Failed Suicide Attempt

A Nigerian business man has been found guilty of an attempted suicide and was consequently sentenced to death by hanging.

The court presided over by Mojisola who is the federal judge, found the man guilty after the police tendered in his rope and stool as evidence of the suicide retrieved from his room.

The man whose name was only given as Jacob according to reports by a top Nigerian website was on the eve of Friday, June 17 heard by neighbors ranting and chanting “I’ll kill myself, I’ll kill myself” in his room.

According to eyewitnesses, the man had earlier on become very frustrated and confused after his bet on the Nigerian national team to win their game against Croatia in the ongoing world cup failed.

The Nigerian team were woefully defeated by Croatia in a 2-0 loss.

We’ve gathered that the man in the spirit of football and believe that his Nation won’t disappoint him staked his house and few other properties he owned in Lagos.

With the woeful defeat, he had nothing to live for and thus his suicide attempt.

The court found his actions very foolish and therefore called for his immediate hanging. Mr Jacob however broke down in tears, calling out to the judge to have mercy on him and reduce his sentence.

“I didn’t really want to die, please the rope was not even strong, please have mercy” – Jacob begged

He’s due to be hanged next week.
